Hi, I’m julie.
My journey into dog training is a bit of a roller coaster…
In 2019, post-marriage and kiddos, I decided to go back to college and finish my elementary teaching degree I’d started ten years earlier.
Shortly after I re-enrolled, the world was flipped upside down by the COVID virus and life screeched to a halt. Managing my own college classes while simultaneously homeschooling my two elementary aged children became next to impossible. Frankly, this whole chapter was a wake up call to the fact that I did not want to pursue elementary education after all. That’s when I decided to pivot and pursue something I had been passionate about for years — dog training.
I started volunteering and interning at Puppy Manners Family Dog School, who had also adapted their business to a post-pandemic business model. There, I helped with puppy play groups and worked with hundreds of “pandemic puppies” to ensure they were socialized properly. Now I’m an instructor for group training classes and also offer private lessons, in-home training, and new puppy consults.
I’ve become passionate about helping dog owners achieve their full potential with their puppy, helping them navigate each stage of puppyhood and into dog-hood. By building a strong foundation with early training, my goal is for everyone to experience a lifetime of happiness and companionship with their dog!
I live in Redmond with my husband, two kids, and two English mastiffs, Dakota and Georgia. Weighing in at 160 pounds each, they are my “right hand girls” and they are full time puppy mentors at Puppy Manners. They frequently make appearances with me in group classes and puppy groups and are known as “the best mastiff sisters”, touching the lives of hundreds of young puppies.
In addition to all this training, I’m also the new member coordinator for a safe off leash dog park in Woodinville, Sol’s Dog Park. I help assess new dogs and assist new members in joining this awesome community.

My Approach
FOUNDATION
Whenever possible, I always like to work with clients at the very beginning of their life with a new puppy. Even better, before puppy has even come home! While we can always work together after puppy has arrived, I find the best approach is to set yourself up for success before any major mistakes are made. My Pre-Puppy Consults are a great place to start.
consistency
The quickest way to successful puppy rearing is when the whole family can get on the same page. Consistency is crucial and I can help you establish and develop the key elements where everyone in the household can get on board. From crate training to appropriate games to play… The details can make a big difference! Working together to form a “puppy training culture” will help make training manageable and the long-term benefits for a well-rounded family dog possible.
maintenance
Even if you didn’t get the help early on in your puppy’s life, it’s never too late to switch gears and change course. Whether we started early and established routines or if you’ve added an older puppy through adoption, I can help you with new training techniques and maintaining those positive behaviors with your new family member. A private lesson can help launch you forward in a “pawsitive” direction.
